“The acquisition of GT Logistics is a key part of our strategic plan to expand our logistics capabilities and provide our customers with even more efficient and effective logistics solutions near the SC Ports Authority,” said Greg Heard, COO of MainOcean. “We are excited about the opportunities that this expansion of our logistics and warehousing capabilities will bring to our state and our customers.”

The acquisition process took approximately six months, and MainOcean plans to integrate GT Logistics’ operations into its existing network over the next several weeks. Under the new ownership, 90 percent of employees will remain in their current positions, and there will likely be more job opportunities in the future. The newly acquired location is within five miles of the port and close to Interstate 85, providing MainOcean’s customers with more logistic options.

“The proximity to our inland port is one of our key strategies as we expand our company and services in the region,” Ryan Sadler, the CFO at MainOcean, explained. “We are invested in South Carolina and its role in the warehouse and logistics industry.”

The expansion into Greer is the second big milestone in Q2 of 2023. MainOcean tripled its footprint in Georgia with the opening of another warehouse in Savannah this quarter.
